DADRA & NAGAR HAVELI
Dadra and Nagar Haveli, sandwiched between the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, is a real heaven on earth where honeymooners can spend time together amidst the wonders of the nature at her best blossom. The place is full of green forests, rivers, fabulous cascading waterfalls, the gentle murmur of streams, distant hills, a dazzling show of flora and fauna. On Silvassa-Dadra road there is a beautiful garden Hirwa Van with thunderous waterfalls, steamy cascades, twin arches, tiny kiosks and springly lawns which is full of flowers. Vanganga Lake and Island Garden is only 5 kms from Silvassa and is one of the most beautiful lake gardens. One would be pleased to know that this is the places where songs of many Hindi feature films have been pasteurized. It has everything one can think of viz. wooden bridges, sea of flowers, jogging paths, thatched huts, paddle boats. Vanvihar Tourist Complex, Chauda, Khanvel is just 20 kms away from Silvassa by road. While driving, one can enjoy the beauty of tall trees. This beautiful land surrounded by lush green hills make a gesture for you with its rolling meadows, terraced gardens, cottages and river Sakartod flowing past it. Water sports and Tentage Complex, Dudhni is again only 20 kms drive from Khanvel where the large waterfront of river Damanganga provides spectacular view of the water spread of Madhuban Dam. For a countryside experience, one can enjoy in the well-appointed tents right near the bank.
How to get there
Nearest railway station is Vapi(15 km) on Western Railway. Silvassa is 11 km from Bhilad on the Mumbai - Ahmedabad Highway. Roads connect Silvassa with Mumbai (168 km), Daman (44 km), Surat (129 km), Vadodara (269 km). Local buses, taxis and rickshaws are available for local journeys in Silvassa and upto Vapi and Bhilad.
When to visit
The territory enjoys a very pleasant climate from November to March, which is actually the best time for a visit. The summer temperature does not go very high, due to the presence of sea in its vicinity. The nights are real pleasant. In summers, light cottons are all one need winters are real chilly and require woolen cloths.
